A very common contraceptive method for couples who feel that their family is complete is tubal ligation or having the woman’s tubes tied. Unfortunately, we do not always know what life holds in store for us and it is not uncommon for patients to change their mind either to simply because the husband or wife desires another child, perhaps sadly something has happened to a child in the family, or perhaps even the marriage has dissolved and a new relationship is present. At the Center for Assisted Reproduction, we offered tubal reversal through a very small 2 or 3 inch incision that allows the procedure to be done as an outpatient. Kevin and I have done tubal reversal since 1990 and have helped many, many families to achieve their goal of having another child. The procedure, because it is done through such a small incision, allows the patient to return to normal activity very quickly. Many patients typically are back at work within 7 to 10 days and with their following menstrual cycle, can attempt pregnancy.
